The Leo Creek Preserve is a not-for-profit outdoor learning lab and is a fantastic place to engage in place-based education, near Suttons Bay, on the Leelanau Trail. The preserve offers sustainable gardens, a composting program, and trails that run along the creek. Ongoing educational programs are offered on stream ecology, the soil food web, and regenerative agriculture. Weekly during July and August is a cut flower bouquet program for kids 11 and younger. Meeting 10-11:30 on Wednesdays, kids will cut flowers, arrange them in vases and deliver to MediLodge patients. In the spring and fall participate in the macro invertebrate sampling, identification, and reporting program, and the Introduction to Creek Ecology and Healthy Soil, and Good Food programs. School classes are welcome, and programs can be customized for your group.
