Community Outreach

Newton's Road is partnering across Northwest Lower Michigan to lower the barriers to quality, hands-on STEM learning and careers, and inspiring a culture of being creative problem-solvers.

One way we do this is through our Community Outreach program that connects youth and their mentors (i.e. parents, educators, employers and community leaders) in meaningful ways. Working together as partners to promote and invest in STEM learning and career exploration helps build a vibrant future for our youth – which in turn improves the vitality of communities across our region!

Our outreach is accomplished in partnership with many different types of organizations:

  • Employers and other STEM Career Advocates offer and promote real world career experiences for young people across our region
  • Educators in and out of school–including public and private K-12 and post-secondary institutions, home school organizations, and pre-K programs and providers
  • STEAM/Maker organizations that offer experiential learning opportunities for schools, families, visitors and more
  • Community service organizations with programs for youth and their families, often those facing economic, health or other factors that cause underrepresentation in STEM careers

We also meet regularly with Community Liaison volunteers, individuals that identify and share partner and event opportunities in their local area with our Outreach Manager (See our volunteer opportunities).
