Educators

Newton's Road supports Northwest Michigan educators, youth leaders and mentors of STEM education—preschool through 12th grade—by helping to connect them to quality STEM resources for use with the students they teach or mentor. We want to make it possible for all educators to bring science, technology, engineering and math to life through real applications and exposure to STEM-related careers. Let’s work together to spark curiosity in every student in Northwest Lower Michigan!

STEM Kits are a great opportunity for educators to complement their core curriculum, during free time and after-school programs. A STEM Kit is a puzzle or game that promotes play-based learning and contains a unique activity that requires a combination of STEM skills. Please contact us if you are interested in having STEM Kits available for students at your school.

Newton's Road developed the Career Investigator for Northwest Michigan as an engaging way for youth to explore our local, high-demand careers and the ways to achieve them.  Today it is used by many middle and high school counselors, teachers and after-school programs because it localizes the information students need to explore career opportunities. Newton’s Road regularly participates in the Regional Counselors monthly meetings. It is also Northwest Michigan Works’ tool of choice for their youth and adult career exploration services. Take a Tour or check out our interactive Tutorial for students! Please contact us if you are an educator (formal or informal) who is interested in learning more about our Career Investigator.

After a successful first year, Northern Michigan Startup week will be back in May 2023! We are looking for High School teachers and students who are interested in participating in the 2023 Student Pitch Competition. Learn more here from last year's info–check back in early 2023 for updates!

If you are a youth educator and would like to partner or wish to learn more about STEM opportunities for youth please contact Emily Williams at outreach@newtonsroad.org.
